Chancee Nolan, Massage Therapist

PersonalizedTreatment with Vital Health

Rather than focus on one type of massage, Chancee will work with you to determine the best course of treatment necessary to help facilitate your healing process.

In every session, she will utilize a combination of different modalities, such as Swedish, deep tissue, trigger point, sport, Thai, and cupping.

Additionally, Chancee uses different techniques from each modality during a massage session. Some will be used more than others depending on problem areas and conditions.

Swedish Massage

Techniques such as kneading, stroking, and friction are used to relax muscles. The main purpose of Swedish massage is to increase the oxygen flow in the blood and release toxins from the muscles. By flushing the tissues of lactic acid, uric acid, and other metabolic wastes we are able to shorten recovery time from muscular strain. Other benefits include stress relief, increased circulation and a better mind-body balance.

Deep Tissue Massage

A technique used to address issues occurring in the deeper soft tissue and fascial layers of the body. Scarring, adhesions, and muscular spasm are all treated with the goal of restoring normal function and motion to the areas affected. Deep tissue does not necessarily mean deep pressure, but rather a concentrated, specific manner of working in the deeper layers of the body to allow for more permanent changes to occur.

Trigger Point Therapy

A technique specifically designed to alleviate the source of the pain through cycles of isolated pressure and release. In this type of massage for trigger point therapy, the recipient actively participates through deep breathing as well as identifying the exact location and intensity of the discomfort. The results and benefits of trigger point massage are releasing constricted areas in the muscles thus alleviating pain. Receiving massage with trigger point therapy on a regular basis can help naturally manage pain and stress from chronic injuries.

Sports Massage

The focus of this technique is to improve circulation, flexibility and range of motion, decrease recovery time from training, prevent injury, and improve muscular efficiency, which will result in better performance. Sports Massage treatments are often used during training and before and after a particular event to prevent injury and improve performance and recovery. The therapist includes the use of compression, light and fast strokes and then stretching of the limbs.

Thai Massage

This massage usually takes place on the floor fully clothed. Since we will be integrating this modality along with the others you will be undressed to your comfort level and be draped like the rest of the massage. We will` incorporate elements of mindfulness, gentle rocking, yoga-like deep stretching, and acupressure. This form of massage is especially useful for tightness in hips, shoulders and other joints as well as focus on certain muscle groups.

Cupping Therapy

Cupping therapy is a form of massage in which cups are placed on the skin to create suction. The suction of the cups mobilizes blood flow to promote the healing of a broad range of medical ailments, including high blood pressure, migraines, anxiety, and depression. Cupping therapy can reduce pain and inflammation throughout the body while promoting mental and physical relaxation and well-being.

Massage is generally considered part of complementary and alternative medicine. It’s increasingly being offered along with standard treatment for a wide range of medical conditions and situations. Studies of the benefits of massage demonstrate that it is an effective treatment for reducing stress, pain and muscle tension.
